Subhub Lite Video Review

Subhub Lite is a nifty web service for creating and hosting your own website easily.  They are currently offering the service for FREE for life to the first 1000 people who register, and then offer a $9.95 for life price for anyone else who registers before November 31, 2010.  After that the price goes to $19.95.

All in all Subhub Lite seems like a good service.  It’s very easy and quick to get started and if you know a bit about computers you can have a professional looking website online within 15 minutes.  Even if you are a techno Neanderthal you should be able to figure out what is going on within an hour or so.

Subhub Lite is built off of Drupal 7 and so will look familiar to web developers.  They do offer add in “Apps” (Modules), but they have a VERY limited selection at 8 or 9.

My only question/ qualm is domain name aliasing?  It appears there is no setting to alias the domain name within the web browser address bar.  So you can point your DNS domain name to your Subhub Lite site, but once visitors get there their address bar will still show DomainName.subhublite.com which is a bit amateurish.

If you don’t know much about computers, but need a professional looking site that is easy to update and edit Subhub Lite is a good deal at $19.95 per month.  If you know a thing or two about HTML and web development your better off sticking with WordPress, or actually building your own Drupal site.

The guys over at Subhub have informed me that you can use your own domain name.  On the main dashboard page there is a “Use You Own Domain Name” link.  When you click this they give you some instructions.  Basically you would do Domain Name forwarding with Masking from whomever you bought your domain name through.
