Amazon Web Services are a Commodity Option for Commodity Computing
There are times you need high end 3D graphics to play the latest Doom video game, and there are times when you just need a system to chug through computations or store data. Amazon’s Web Services may be a great option for you if you just need raw computing services.
Amazon has created a cloud based computing system that allows you to literally purchase only what you need. You pay for incoming bandwidth USAGE, or outgoing bandwidth USAGE. You pay for exactly how much you are storing on their systems. If you upload 13GB then you pay for 13GB, not for “up to 20GB” the way other services charge.
If you are looking to give your clients a remote backup solution, or just need a test computer to play around with some configurations on AWS may be for you.
I know I have heard AWS can be a bit tricky to configure properly. It’s probably not a service for the newbie’s out there, but if you have a solid tech background it may be a highly affordable solution for you.

AWS is definitely in the queue for our classes…
