Adtonomy Plugins for JW Player are a Good Way to Show Ads on Your Flash Videos
I’ve been using JW Player for EverymanIT.com since January and have been very happy with it. One of the main selling points for sing JW Player are it’s large list of Plugins.
We use a number of Plugins including their Adtonomy series. There are 2 Adtonomy plugins. One presents .flv (Flash Video) ads at either the beginning, mid roll or end of the video. You can input a number of ad options and then it can randomly choose which ads to show.
All in all Adtonomy Video works very well. I wish it had a better tracking mechanism. Right now you can track ad views and clicks, but you have to point at tracking scripts vs. some easy Google Analytics routine.
Adtonomy Text also works very well and presents the little pop up ads every few minutes. It looks professional and functions very well. My only issue (besides the same tracking concern) is that the randomization for ads doesn’t appear to be overly random. The script seems to take a massive preference to the first ad that is listed. I wish this worked better, but will write a script to fix the problem shortly.
Over all if you are looking to provide ad space on your video web site you should take a look at JW Player and Adtonomy plugins. This is definitely an affordable way to start. JW Player is $89 for a commercial license and the Adtonomy plugins are $99 per year each. For $300 you can setup a robust video site.
