Review of the Borders Kobo… One Word, “Ick”
I was in Borders the other day and had the displeasure of testing out the Kobo eReader. Being that it’s cheaper then the Kindle, and the iPad some people may be thinking that it’s worth the price… It’s not.
It feels like a cheap Chinese knockoff from the moment you pick it up. It just feels cheap and crappy.
Turning pages and “loading” books takes far longer then even on my first generation Kindle. All in all this is a poor competitor in a world of good products.
Being that there is now a sub $150 version of the Kindle, and the Barnes and Noble Nook starts at $150 I cannot fathom why you would buy the Kobo. We can get into arguments about whether iPads, Kindles or Nooks are the better purchase for the average user, but the Kobo is a piece of garbage that shouldn’t even be brought into the discussion.
