Buy Video Cards Without Fans
One of the pieces of advice I can give from doing this job for a while is to advise you to always buy Video Cards that do not have fans built into them. You can buy very high quality Video Cards that simply use a larger Heat Sink instead of a Fan/ Heat Sink combo.
Video Card fans not only create annoying noise when the computer is on, but they are also the major point of failure for Video Cards. After awhile the fans get gunked up and they stop working. The Video Card then over heats and destroys itself. Time and time again I have seen clients come in saying their video stopped working, and when we opened the case a little Video Card fan would be sitting in the bottom of the case.
