  1. Define a Workgroup
    1. All computers control their own security
    2. A way to logically divide computers into groups on a network
  2. Why use a Workgroup
    1. Deploy a “quasi” server by using a normal workstation computer to share files, printers or web applications.
    2. You do not need to spend a lot of money on a “real” server
  3. The Network Setup Wizard and Requirements
    1. Network setup wizards automatically setup everything on a Windows computer to allow it to become part of a workgroup.  Every Windows edition uses a different wizard to do this
    2. All updates should be done on computers
    3. NDP – Network Discovery Protocol is used to see and be seen on a network
    4. Firewall Permissions can block file and print sharing
    5. File and Print Sharing service is used to share files and printers
    6. File or Folder has to be shared for people to gain access to it.
