  1. Introduction
    1. FTP is how you upload or download files to a web server
    2. You need FTP client software to use FTP
    3. Hosting providers allow you to upload through their web site using a Java application
    4. FTP Clients such as Filezilla are best for uploading large amounts of data
  2. Connecting
    1. You need to create an FTP Account
    2. The FTP address is usually ftp.yourdomainname.com
    3. FTP uses port 21
  3. Where to put files
    1. Generally put your website files in the ROOT directory
    2. Sometimes website files have to in a specific folder
    3. The Home Page always has to be named index.htm, index.html, default.htm or default.html

    Need help, i,ve created a website usind word, a have filezilla , but a cant create a ftp account, i dont know the steps and where to do that, plzz help need very much!

    Contact your web host and they will tell you how to create the FTP account. Or many times they have an FTP upload tool in their hosting control panel that you can use.
